Hi ,

I have a doubt , when I use Instrument Studio for NI-PXIe-4143 , when i keep the SMU in Idle state , how does it behave , is it a very high Impedance to Ground , or is it a finite ,say 100kohms to ground .I wanted to ask because i generally see current being sourced/sinked when i am keeping the Smu off only .

4143 does not have an output relay, hence the internal circuit is always connected to the external circuit.

In your case, it will behave as Source 0V with a 2% current range as the current limit.

Given the SMU can source/sink up to 2% of the current range, your observation seems valid.

OK , and when it is Voltage mode , it behaves as a voltage source with approx zero internal resistance?
