Good moring vtrivedi,
Thanks for contacting National Instruments with your issue, we'll try our best to resolve it for you as quickly and efficiently as possible.
The PXI-8310 serves as a PCI-to-PCI bridge, effectively "fooling" your controlling computer into thinking it has a large PCI bus than it does. The only way to verify that the PXI-8310 has been installed correctly is as stated in the PXI-8310 User Manual on page 2-8 and 2-9. Essentially it will show up as a StarGen PCI to PCI bridge.
If it's not showing up there, it could be an issue with either your version of Windows (Make sure you get SP2) or a boot up ordering issue. Make sure you always power up your PXI chassis first and then your laptop (or whatever computer you're using to controll the chassis).
Best of luck with your project.
Sincerely,
Minh Tran
