Bonjour,
Cordialement,
Tenanio

Hello,
I am looking for the exact reference number of a 4Gb DDR2 RAM memory to use with a PXIe-8108 controler.
We have a 1Gb DDR2 memory which is not enough for our requirements.
Thank you for your help.

Bonjour,
J'ai trouvé la réponse à ma question :
Pour une barette mémoire pour contrôleur NI PXIE-8108, le type de mémoire est une DDR2 RAM PC4200 SODIMM.

Hello,
Please use PC2 5300 (667MHz) DDR2 RAM with the PXIe-8108. The page you found is unfortunately incorrect. I have escalated this documentation problem and that page will be corrected soon.
The PXIe-8108 uses the Intel GM45 chipset, which works with PC2 5300 RAM. Using slower memory (like PC2 4200) will cause system instability or problems with booting.
Cheers,

Hello,
Thank you for this answer.
On other documents, we can read Single-Channel DDR2 RAM, PC2 6400. So which one is enough to run on the 8108 controller?
Regards.

That's a good catch - thank you. Although the chipset is rated for PC2 5300, I verified that the PXIe-8108 itself has only ever been sold with the faster grade of PC2 6400. This indicates a likelihood that the controller has only been designed and tested with the higher rated RAM in mind. The safest best is of course to use the NI-sold RAM (which is PC2 6400), but if you are going to use 3rd party RAM, 6400, not 5300, would be the better choice.
