Laptop blue screen when connect to PXIe-8301 through thunderbolt 3 port

Hi Guys,

When I connect PXie 8301 to my laptop using thunderbolt cable, my laptop turns blue screen. I tried using another laptop, same thing.

Here is the screenshot. I am using LabVIEW 2015 and Flexrio 18.7.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi zyb1003,

This looks to be related to a service request about the PXIe-8301 causing a BSOD crash when Flex RIO card is plugged in.

The issue could be connected to a new Windows feature called Kernel DMA Protection. Basically, it blocks DMA calls from certain divers. The current workaround is to disable Kernel DMA Protection in the BIOS security menu. Can we try this? Start restart your computer and press the F2 key on the keyboard(works for other Dell laptops at least) to enter the BIOS menu. Look for references to DMA or Kernel DMA protection and disable it. It is also worth checking for Thunderbolt 3 options and make sure they are enabled so that the card is detected correctly.
