FPGA Software Interaction

Hello y'all,
I am using the PXIe-7846R FPGA card with a Linux system in a Pickering PXIe Chassis. Programming of the FPGA is being done through LABView but I am running into some trouble figuring out how to interact with the FPGA in C/C++. Is there a serial module (or some equivalent) that can be added to the FPGA HDL to make it appear as a COM port? Is there some other approach that is supported or recommended? Are any specific drivers required aside from ni-rseries? Or does this driver provide this capability? Can anyone point me to any documentation or manuals that can go into detail on this?
Thanks,
Tim K

Has the bitfile for the FPGA card been created?
