Error kernel 346530 when booting into RT operation system

We had a PXI-8186 controller without RTOS. Inorder to make up a RT system, we used MAX tools to make a boot floopy disk. When the controller start up from the floopy disk, error kernel :346530 appeared on the screen. It showed "Error initializing Floopy drive A:".
We had made 2 floopy diskes: one is "Format Hard Drive Disk", the other is"PXI boot disk". Whether we use format one or boot disk, we got the same result.
PXI-8186 controller does not have a floopy disk drive and we use a USB floopy disk drive instead.
Could you help us to solve this problem?
Thanks a lot!!

Hello Yang,

The PXI 8186 controller does not require floppy disks to boot the controller into RT or format the controller. KnowledgeBase 361AGHJ4 describes the steps necessary to configure your 8186 controller for RT.

If you find later that you need to format the controller, right-click on the remote system (IP address) in MAX and choose to Format Disk.

If you have any further questions, please post a reply.

Hi Kristi, I am trying to install LabVIEW RT on a Dell PowerEdge 860 and I get the same error: Kernel Error 346530, Error Initializing the floppy drive. You get several lines of this error message on the screen and then the installation program asks user if he/she wants to format the C drive. After typing "yes" the program hangs a bit, and then comes back with Error 346520. I read up on this error on the NI website, and it appears the system doesn't recognize either the partition of the hard drive. The partition is already formatted as FAT32, but that shouldn't be the problem. I have done this on IDE hard drives and compact flash cards. Does LabVIEW RT have problems with SATA hard drives? That appears to be the only thing that's different at this stage. The PowerEdge 860 uses SATA hard drives. Thanks, Chatonda Algis Corp

Hey aiqui,
Please check out this link.  It goes over the requirements for a Desktop PC to run Real-Time ETS.  SATA hard drives are not supported by RT ETS, but there are a couple of options listed in that link.  Thanks.
