AIT 429 cards seen in MAX as a VISA device but not up in the PXI chassis slot list

Hello,

I have 4 PXIe-1084 chassis with multiple NI cards but also one 429 card in each chassis.

I managed to install all drivers and all cards are in the PXI chassis slot list except A429 ones:

I am not sure why, since I installed everything necessary.

Maybe I have to manually copy the driver files to the RT machine thru ftp to be assigned under the chassis?

Maybe the firmware needs to be updated to match the driver's version? I am using as RT controller a normal computer that can boot Pharlap and is connected to chassis thru PCIe/PXIe - 8398 cards.

I attach here also the driver version and how device manager looks.

Thank you

Just a quick note: AIM and AIT are different companies that both sell ARINC-429 boards. You stated that you're using AIT boards, but the image of the driver you posted is for AIM. Try going to AIT's website and grabbing their drivers.

Some historical context:

NI used to resell AIT PXI avionics modules. Around 2016, NI stopped reselling the AIT PXI modules and partnered with Astronics Ballard to resell their PXIe avionics modules. Then a few years, we also started to resell AIM avionics modules to cover different markets.

Hi,

Thanks for the answer. this is still a hanging problem regarding the A429 cards that we have. But let's leave that for later.. for now I tried resetting everything and reinstalling pharlap, all the necessary SW on my RT machine and now many times not all chassis (4) are detected and not all .. I am not sure if my setup is correct and the SW properly installed and the correct versions: I have:

  • 4 PXIe-1084 chassis with many NI + few AIT + NAI cards.
  • These chassis are connected to RT PC through PXIe-8398 respectively PCI-8398 through MXI latest cables
  • the RT PC has pharlap on it -> it starts correctly, I see the cores being used
  • The Host PC is a win10 64bit PC
  • The SW installed on RT PC is in the attached screenshotNI forum question okt 2025.png
