how can I combine or merge two sequence files into one?

Multiple .seq files were developed over time. I want to make a single sequence file with these as subsequences. can it be done?

Hi Paul,

There isn't any merge function as such so you will have to cut and paste the various properties from one Sequence File to another.

If you have a lot of sequence file to merge you could develop a sequence that will automate this process by using Teststand API function. The main thing to do here is to Clone one property from one SequenceFile and Insert into a Target SequenceFile. Repeat this for all Sequence, Locals, Parameters, FileGlobals.

A problem will arise with all the 'MainSequence'.

But do you really need to merge these files. You know that you can call SubSequence from external SequenceFiles. (See Computer Motherboard Test.seq found in C:\TestStand\Examples\Demo)

Ray,
Yes it is true that I can use multiple sequences from multiple individual .seq files. I just thought it would be good to be able to use the scope of file globals to exchange variables, settings and data rather than the larger scope of station globals. I do not need these to be persistant.
I once thought that with some knowledge of the format of a .seq file one might be able to accomplish the feat with some judicious cut and paste work using a text editor.(I had done that with Test Executive on the Mac) But I guess if it were that easy to merge sequences, NI would have done it already.
