Hi,

I need to know what will TestStand not allow me to do if I don't have admin rights on my computer?

Dusty,

You mean that you are not an administrator in TestStand, or under your copy of Windows? If you are not listed as an administrator under TestStand itself, you will be limited again based on your user status. You can find a description of the different options under Best Practices for NI TestStand User Interface Development.   If Windows, what rights do you not have enabled under your username? If you cannot save to disk, you won't be able to edit and save any sequence files. If you don't have network access, you won't be able to log to a remote database, etc. So this would be more of a question of what will Windows let you do under your non-admin login, rather than what TestStand will allow you to do.

Dusty,

There is very detailed information about TestStand Users in the TestStandReferenceManual for TestStand 4.0. I would start in chapter 7 "User Management".  In addition if you are not the administrator of the windows account, you will not be able to write to the registry, and you will be restricted to the specific locations on the machine. You will not be able to use the version selector, and depending on the settings of your user account you may or may not be able to write to program files. If you don't have this ability you will not be able to write to the TestStand CFG directory. The CFG directory is where your settings are saved, so if you modify something in your station options and then close, you would get an error message and have to reset the settings when you re-opened the sequence editor. This issue was fixed in TestStand 4.1 because they moved the CFG directory out of program files and is documented in the TestStand 4.1 release notes.
