TestStand Licencing

We are the NI distributor in Hungary and we have sold a TestStand Development System and a Debug Deploy Licence to a customer. We are not really sure about the Debug Deployment Licence. As far as I know, it allows to install TestStand, LabVIEW and LabWindows/CVI on a target machine for debugging purposes. Which serial number should be used by the installation of these software, that of the Deploy Debug Licence or the original TestStand, LabVIEW and LabWindows/CVI licence? After having installed, the target machine will be delivered to a different site. As the Deploy Debug Licence does not include any CD-s, is it permitted to make copy CD-s of the original installation CD-s of TesStand etc. development environments, in order to have backup media at the remo
te location?

Is the licencing and istallation concept of the TestStand Run-time system the same or different?

Hi LA,

It seems as though you have already read the EULA for TestStand, but just to be sure, the exact terms of the license agreement for all license types are located in the specific language version of the license agreement document located in your \Doc\License directory.

To answer your specific questions, read the following:

1) You will use your debug deploy license serial number on the debug deployment installation of TestStand. The serial numbers you use for LV and LW/CVI are the ones that came with the original disks for those environments. The main thing to remember here, is that this deployment is a single seat only and can only be used for debugging. NO development at all can take place on these machines, if this happens then the licens
e agreement has been violated. Also, as indicated in the EULA, you can transfer the single seat license to a 3rd party as long as they agree to the terms of the license as well.

2) Yes, you can make backup copies of the cds as long as you adhere to the single seat license agreement. Meaning that you only have one installation of the software for each license that you have purchased. In this case, a backup copy of cds is okay for the debug deployment station, as long as they are only used to reinstall the debug deployment.
