Although I haven't heard of any company that has developed exactly what
you're describing, I'm sure something of that nature has been done
before.
It has been my experience with touch screen applications that,
generally speaking, they simply emulate mouse click events where the
user touches the screen, and it doesn't have any significant effects on
the performance of either the operating system or applications being
run. That is to say I don't believe there are any precautions that need
to be taken when creating a test sequence that will be used through a
touch screen.
TestStand will perform equally well on Windows 2000 as it would on
Windows XP and vice versa. There really is no advantage or disadvantage
to the performance of TestStand on one platform over the other.
