Can I restore defaults of a TestStand installation?

Solved!
Go to solution
I have been playing with TestStand and exploring all that it is capable of. Now I'm ready to get started on an actual project and I'm wondering if there is an easy way to get it back to it's initial state. I have station globals, custom step types, templates, etc and I want to start clean.

Is my only choice to manually remove what I've done? TS4.01 Smiley Wink

Thanks,
Toby

Hi Toby,

Thats a good question!  I have always reinstalled TS. .........And one hour later everything was clean.

I am courious what other user are doing or what Ni - guys are saying.

Hi,

If you have been working in the User folder's then just delete the contents of these folders.

Delete the cfg folder and TestStand will regenerate them using default settings.

If you have been modifying items in any of the NI folders then you will have to reinstall TestStand.

Hope this helps

You might lose your Tools menu items though. You should keep your toolmenu.ini (in your cfg directory) otherwise you might have to repair to get it back (or copy it from another machine).

Thanks for the replies. This did the trick for me as well. I wasn't sure if just deleting these files would break other things so I wanted to ask before I tried it.
