Hi Nadav,

This first thing you need to do in order to add a new user to the user's list in TestStand is to make sure you are logged in to TestStand as an administrator. Only administrators have the privilege to add users. By default, TestStand has a user called Administrator with no password. This should work if it hasn't been changed in your computer.
Next click the user management button in the TestStand toolbar (or press CTRL-U) to get to the user management. Select the User List Tab, right click on the window and select Insert User.
In the dialog window, you can enter the user name, full name and password on the new user as well as the profile. Click OK and you have a new user!

The profile is the type of user, and there are 4 options by defau
lt. The profiles are Administrator, Developer, Technician, and Operator, each with different privileges. You can view the privileges associated with profiles and edit or insert profiles by selecting the Profiles Tab in the user management window.

I hope this helps,

Marcela.

Oh! By the way,

The user list is saved in a file called users.ini (with the passwords encrypted). It's under ../TestStand/cfg

If you work in multiple stations, you might want to copy the users.ini file to all computers so that you don't have to create the users for every station.

Hi!

Yes, you can create your own custom user type (or profile).

To create your own custom user type, go to the user manager window (CTRL-U) and select the profiles tab. Right click on the right section of the window and select Insert Profile. Here you will not get a dialog window, but a new profile will be created, give it any name you want.
On the left section of the window (tree view) you will see the new profile as well. Click on the + sign to expand the properties of the profile. Click on the + sign by the Privileges property to expand the privileges. Browse through the profiles and doeble click them in the right section of the window to change it's value from true to false to the the profiles that you want.

Now, you
can create a new user and select the new profile.

If you don't want to create a whole new profile, you can just change the privileges of a user. Select the user in the user list tab, click on the + sign to expand the properties, and follow the instructions described below.
