keep-out area usage??

Why do I need to select silikscreen for a component height keep out area to work?  Silkscreen is not very high.  I would think the 3D-info top (or bottom) would be the only thing I should select.  Selecting the silkscreen forces the keepout on the entire footprint including copper pads which is unnesessarily restrictive.  I want to keep out only the 3D info that indicates what portion of the part is too high.  If I select only the 3D info then I do not get any keep out errors reported.

Is there a tutorial on making keep out areas do avrious things?  I've had trouble getting them to work rationally for other purposes in the past as well.

Thanks,

David B

Hi David,

This is a known issue, you have check the Silkscreen checkbox in order for the keepout area to flag height.
