Trouble with basic circuits

As a new user I am having trouble with very basic circuits. I hace tried to make a basic latching relay and it wont work. Is there anywhere I can get some basic circuits like a motor starter, simple relay logic ect.

You need to be more specific. Are you using multisim for a the schematic and transferring the data to ultiboard?

Are you using a netlist from another program for error checking?

Is it ultiboard itself that you don't understand?

Is the part your trying to use in the database?

You need to explain exactly what "kind" of trouble and where it lies.

Kittmaster,

I tried to draw a simple curcuit in mutisim. I had a AC power source a set of No contacts (space to close) and a relay with a latching set of contacts. Very basic. When I run multisim and press space the switch closes but the contact do not. I am not shure If I am doing something wrong or my settings are wrong. I had EB V5 years ago.  I wish I could paste a copy of the image in this document to show you better but I dont have an FTP program to upload the image to the web. If you know where I could look at other small curcuits simular to sometning of this nature that wouls be great. A simple cicuit that would energize a relay and latch that relay on to keep a light on would be a good example.

Thanks for your help with this.

The attach file contains a screen shot of the circuit I built as well as the circuit created in V9.

The relay used can be found in the Basic-->Basic virtual component bin.

When you double click on the relay, you have the option to define the current on/off.  In this example, I set the current required to close the relay to be 10 mA and the off at 9mA.

Thanks for the tip. I have been able to get DC circuits to work fine but when I use an AC source the relay wont stay closed.

One piece of advice I could offer, and I don't mean to insult your intelligence, is break your circuit into simple parts and analyze/test each part individually.  Multisim (also EWB) can sometimes be finicky, I've found.  For example, do you have a load?  Believe it or not, I have had simulations fail simply because I didn't attach a load resistor of some value.  (And, besides, all circuits have to have a load anyway, so attach one.)

So try that.  You said you can get dc to work but not ac.  Maybe you've a quirk on your hands??  Find the problem component by taking the complex to simple -- this is, of course, assuming you know what each component does and, preferably, in the particular circuit of interest.

P.S.  I say Multisim, but it's really about circuit simulations -- they can give some odd results sometimes.
