Multiple Voltage Sources (VCC / VDD) in Multisim

At times it is required to have multiple voltage sources in Multisim (such as VCC1, VCC2).   You can edit the refdes of the original VCC or VDD in Multisim, however this presents a problem if you would like to copy this newly created source multiple times in Multisim.   What happens is that the original instance of VDD or VCC is copied instead and you have to rename and reset the Voltage level of this newly copied source to match the desired Vsettings.  This is error prone and can cause simulation issues.  See below for an example.

The solution is to create new instances of VCC or VDD in the user/corporate database (VCC0, VCC1, VCCx+1, etc.).   Shown below is a database update file showing 10 VCCs and 10 VDDs for use in multiple power supply systems.   The benefit is that when you copy and paste these in a new location, the instance will automatically be matched - both netname and voltage setting will be preserved.  The included Multisim schematic highlights this advantage.  Thanks to the existing user who requested this.

Stressed...,

Glad this information is helpful.  There are other techniques like this that can be applied to existing Master DB components (and recreating them as Corporate/ User DB parts) that can greatly assist in making simulation and the PCB layout process in Ultiboard better.

I'll pass the kudos on to the original customer who requested this.
