Database access denied for 2N3055A

I'm using the Student version 11, on my Win 7 (32 bit) laptop. The online PDF document seems to show that the 2N3055A transistor should be available for through the student version, but the software still won't let me use it. What am I doing wrong here?

Hi,

In Multisim go to Help>>About Multisim, what's the application version (11.x.xxx)? Database version? Do you have an Administrator account on your computer?

In the meantime here is the 2N3055A, open the file, right-click the component and select Save Component to DB, this will save the component in your User Database.

Hi

Where I can find the file for MJE172 (PNP transistor) and MJE182 (NPN transistor)  for multisim?

I am working on a project that needs the above transistors.

Thank you

Hello,

You can find the SPICE models for these components in the On Semiconductor website. Try these links:

MJE172

MJE182

Here is a tutorial on how to create basic components in Multisim:

Thank you for the files.

How can I use them? I clicked them and they are text.

It seems I have import or paste them somewhere. Or I should save them in a certain folder?

Thank you

The files that I sent you are the SPICE models, a mathematical representation of the component. Now you have to create the component in Multisim usign the Component Wizard (Tools menu). Take a look of the tutorial that I sent you (Component Creation 101).

Thank you Fernando

I just add the both transistors into my system.

If you look however one looks blue and other black. For one I entered the the pin layout as to TO-126 and for the other I didn't. Is that the reason?

Black components are virtual, they can be used for simulation only.

Blue components are real, they have a footprint (for instance: TO-126) and they can be used for simulation. Real components can be transferred to Ultiboard for the PCB layout.
