Connect plane to pin

Hi all, I'm new here.

I have a question about using a plane as shield.

I did make an analog design, so I drawed a star-gnd. Now I also like to have a shielding om het board, connected to only one pin of the gnd-net, at the star, not to the full net. This for emc (and the looks). Is here anyone who knows if this is possible?

Regards,

Martijn

Hi Martijn,

If you have a ground in Multisim, where you want to connect the shielding, it is good for your schematic design.

In your PCB design, this is something you have to keep in mind.

Hi Bas,

Thanks for your answere.

I am sorry if I wasn't completely clear in my question.

I did use a ground in multisim, but the problem is that when I connect a plane to the ground it also covers/swallows the complete net. Due to the design I can't afford a plane that is connected to all the pins, so therfore I like to add a plane that is only connected to one pin, instead of a complete net.

Hi Martijn,

If multiple pins have the same net, they are connected.

Maybe you have to add an extra ground, that creates a new net.

Begards,

Bas

1. To create polygon of the demanded form.
2. Select it by click left button of a mouse.
3. Design>>Shape to Area
4. Right click on copper area and select Properties. In Copper Area Properties dialog box select Copper Area tab.
5. Enable Connected to net and select the 0 net from the list.
