wiring requirements for remote sensing and shield to ground, 9237

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi, I have a load cell (full bridge) connected to a 9237 (in a 9172 chassis), and I have two questions regarding wiring:

1) does remote sensing require that you have two extra wires coming off the loadcell, at the point where the leads attach to the wheatstone bridge?

2) where should you connect the shield of the load cell to remove 50/60Hz noise? to the Ex- terminal (along with the Ex- wire)?

Thanks,

Claire.

Hi Claire,

1) Yes.  The remote sense wires should be connected to the points where the excitation voltage wires connect to the bridge circuit.

2) Yes.  The shield should be connected to the reference of the device, which for the 9237 is the EX-.

Refer to the NI 9237 Operating Instructions and Specifications and this DevZone for more information.
