what is the difference between these boards? Thanks!

PCI-6111 has pseudodifferential inputs while PCI-6111E hasdifferential inputs. For more detailed information, check these documents:
PCI-6111 spec sheet

Interesting! I thought that the PCI-6111/PCI-6111E was going to be a similar situation as the PCI-6110/PCI-6110E? See this link: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/77891D4577D310D286256BC1007CB083
So is the above PCI-6110 link correct? Or are the PCI-6110 and PCI-6110E different in the same way you say the PCI-6111 is different from the PCI-6111E.
-----
Said another way. Is this correct?:
PCI-6110: pseudodifferential inputs
PCI-6110E: differential inputs
PCI-6111 and PCI-6111E: same units, just different series/age
OR is this correct?:
PCI-6110: pseudodifferential inputs
PCI-6110E: differential inputs
PCI-6111: pseudodifferential inputs
PCI-6111E: differential inputs
thanks!

Hmm I was not aware of that KB. Thanks for bringing it up. It looks like the pinouts on both the 6110/6111 and the 6110E/6111E are the same, but I don't have a definite yes or no as to whether or not they are the same units. To find that out, I would have to dig deeper into the actual design of the product.
Why you are interested in the differences between 6111/6111E? Is there any particular spec that you are looking to check if it's the same?

im trying to determine if they are suitable replacements for one another. I got some of all of the models.
pci-6111 <-> pci-6111e
pci-6110 <-> pci-6110e
can i drop one in for the other and go? maybe have to change a couple lines of code and that it?
Basically, are the specs the same. If not, what are the differences.
Thanks!

As far as communicating to the device, you should be able to drop in one for the other and use it. However, you should be aware that the way that the E versus non-E cards take inputs could affect your measurements. This would be specific to what you are trying to measure. You may require some additional adjustment in the circuit connecting your source to the DAQ. Take a look at this white paper describing the differences between pseudo-differential and differential. http://www.ni.com/white-paper/6962/en/

Actually, I've found in the manual now that the 6111E wasn't trully differential, we just updated the specs of the 6111 to be more accurate to what it was. See section 3-2 in the manuals for these devices:
http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/321759e.pdf
http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/321759b.pdf
Under analog input, the first 2 paragraphs state that both cards "supports only differential (DIFF) inputs"
So in fact they are the same card.
