Hello all,
I had a NI-6221 installed on a x86 winxp SP2 along with labview7.1 and DAQmx of the same age.
This pc failed, then I bought a new desktop and installed LabView2010 and all the newer versions of drivers and DAQmx.
However all my old vi stopped to work correctly, because they were made for labview7.1, so I had to uninstall everything (and in a hurry) and reinstall labview7.1 and DAQmx 3.0 (or something).
After a while I noticed that the "test panel" in DAQmx was not working, and I read on the forum that this was due to an incomplete uninstall.
Therefore, I uninstalled everything throught NI application interface.
Then I tried to uninstall the rest with MSIblast, but I've got the error 1772
I have seen the solution at
http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/268AD2EDA9B14EFC86256E7F00790156?OpenDocument
and tried to install manually labview7.1 run-time through lvruntimeeng.msi, but it failed, saying that a newer version is present.
Now, LabView2010 is no longer available on the web and I do not have a copy of it.
How can I do to install and then uninstall lvruntimeeng.msi of labview2010 (given that this is the right way to proceed)?
Should I install and uninstall lvruntimeeng.msi of labview2011?
Thanks,
Alessandro

Hello abigi,
in the following link you can find the Labview 2010 runtime engine.

Thanks! I downloaded the 2010 runtime engine (... pardon me, but I did not expected to be on the NI site and I had not looked for it).
I installed the 2010 runtime engine (actually, although I selected only the runtime engine it installed many applications).
Then I uninstalled everything, but the labview7.1 runtime engine (which is the only application surviving in msiblast) is still giving me the error 1722 and 1603.
And I when I try to reinstall it through the lvruntimeeng.msi, it prompts "a higher version of this product is already installed"..
Am I missing something?
Is there a particular procedure for uninstalling? Do applications need to be uninstall in a specific order? Mumble mumble...
Thanks,
Alessandro

Hello Alessandro,
can you please complete the following steps?
NI LabVIEW 8.0 FF Run-Time Engine Libs and later (if you have one)
NI LabVIEW Run-Time Engine 8.0 and later
After I think that you will be able to reinstall LV 7.1 Runtime engine. Can you please try and see if you are able?

Sincerely thanks for the reply.
What I tried today was: run MSIblast (removing everything but runtime eng 7.1). remove all National Instrument folders. clean registry entries according to the pdf http://forums.ni.com/ni/attachments/ni/250/34391/2/MSI%20Blast.pdf
Clean again all registry with CCleaner
Clean everything with microsoft install cleaner.
At this point everything seemed to be gone, event the NI installer in the add/remove packages menu.
Then what I did was:
I removed the PCI NI-6221.
I installed Labview 7.1 (no drivers)
I installed DAQmx
I physically installed the NI-6221.
However I am still having the same problem: in MAX the test panel window does not open anymore.
Since I had read on other posts that this might be due to mixed versions and install problems, that's why I wanted to clean and reinstall everything (and then I had problems with the runtime engine).
I was thinking of uninstall/msiblast etc everything again. And reinstall in a different order:
DAQmx
NI-6221
Labview
This might be a solution?
Otherwise I have windows installation cd ready...
Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

I think I'll go for a HD formatting...
MSIblast cannot uninstall run-time engine even this time; I am getting the same error as before.
I'll go for an annoying HD erase...
Thanks for the help!
