how to measure current with a 6008, without.....

hi there people i'm making a digital multimeter with a 6008 and labview same as the with NIELVIS software... well heres is my question.. is there any way to measure current without using ohm's law as I= V/R ..that means without affecting my proof circuit.. is there any way to measure directly the current?

No. The 6008 can only measure voltage. You can download the user guide and specifications if the one that came with device was lost.

so the only way to measure current using de 6008 is by adding a Shunt resistor in series to my proof circuit of a minimun value to measure the voltage drop in that shunt resistor? or do you know another to way to make it?? tks

Hi jmfox180!

Like Dennis said, the only way to do it is using the shunt resistor.

I hope this document can be helpful to you:

jmfox180,

There are several companies that make current transducers.  These devices measure the current using a CT or a Hall Effect device and put out a voltage that is proportional to the current.  Read output voltage of transducer and scale accordingly.  No need to introduce any additional resistance in your circuit.
