error 10401 for PCI-6036E card with new machine

I have a new machine with a PCI-6036E card, which was previously working fine with an older machine, but now, when I try to run my VI on the new machine in LabView 8.0 (same version as the old machine), I get the error message "error -10401 occurred at AI Group Config".  (The same VI also worked fine with the older machine.)

Posts on the NI website suggest that there is some problem with the configuration of the device.  However, the device looks ok to me from the MAX - it appears in the list, resets successfully, and the card inputs show the right voltages when tested using the MAX.

If there is some problem with the configuration, can you give me some more specific advice about how to resolve it?

Many thanks.

Hi Thuboyf,

Thanks for the question - are you using the same drivers on the new machine as you are on the older one?

It sounds to me like you had one or more Tasks or Global Virtual Channels set up on the old machine that held task information in MAX, and as these aren't setup on the new machine, whenever the VI references them it fails.

You can see if this is the case as names will be being passed into the inputs of the Create Channel VI(s) rather than device identifiers of the format Devx/aix etc.... If this is the case, you need to check that these named tasks or channels appear under the 'Data Neighbourhood' section of the tree in MAX, if not, click onto the 'Create New' option, and go through the steps to create the task or channel you need.

If you have the old machine to hand, you can also export the channel configuration and then import this onto your new machine, so this will all be done automatically for you - check MAX help for how to go about this, but put simply you go to File>>Export and follow the wizard steps.

If you're not sure about this, or it doesn't seem to answer the problem post your VI into this thread and I'll see if I can spot what might be causing your problem.

Best wishes,

Mark
