What is the software support for PCI-6259 under Linux

Hi,

I am planning using the PCI-6259 for my data acquisition from a force sensor.  It is said that it can be used with Windows, Mac OS X or Linux.  When using with linux, what support is given? Is it only a driver without other software? Is there any known software to use under Linux to use that board?

Also, is there a driver available (even if it doesn't come from National Instrument) for the QNX OS since I could also be interested in using it?

Thanks,

JBM

The Linux package has kernel module drivers and DAQ test panels that you can use to verify that your board is working. After that it's up to you to write your own application, unless you have LabView for Linux. As far as using QNX, I really doubt it would work. The drivers are for the Linux kernel and QNX uses a totally different POSIX RTOS kernel.

Hello JBM.

There is a driver that is compatible with the PCI-6259 in select Linux environments.  National Instruments supports Mandriva Linux Official, Red Hat Enterprise Linux WS, and SUSE Linux.  If you use these operating systems, you can then use the NI-DAQmx Version 8.0 for Linux driver.  This is freely downloadable at

The DAQmx driver works very well in conjunction with our LabVIEW platform which has a Linux version.  I am not aware of any driver that interfaces with the PCI-6259 and works in the QNX OS.

Have a great day and good luck!
