USB-6501 fails self test on 1 PC

My DAQ fails the self test in MAX.  I tried to run it in test panels and I get a message saying an internal error occured (error -88302).  I then ran the same test on 2 other machines and it works fine.  All 3 computers have the same DAQmx drivers.  Any ideas as to what I should try next?

Hi Pat,

I would try uninstalling the device from the Windows Device Manager. Restarting the computer and then plugging in the USB-6501 and reinstalling it. If this does not fix the problem you may have a MAX database corruption on that computer. The Knowledge Base article, How Do I Recover from MAX Database Corruption?, has step by step instructions for fixing the corruption. Please let me know if you have any questions and take care.

Thanks,

I attempted both these suggestions without success.  I am at a loss as to what I should try next.

Hey Pat,

So you deleted or renamed the MAX data directory and this did not clear up the problem? Removing this directory generally clears up the -88302 error. What is the manufacturer and model of the computer you are using? Does it have USB 2.0 ports or just 1.1?

Thanks,

Yes, I deleted the data directory and rebooted without success.  The PC is an Acnodes model PC2120, which is a resistive touch screen pannel pc.  The usb ports are 1.1.  We have several of these and the DAQ works properly on the other 2 machines, which are the same make and model.

Hi Pat,

What version of NI-DAQmx are you using? Something may be wrong with that specific computers driver installation. Do you have any other NI hardware that uses DAQmx you can test on that computer? This will let us know if the problem affects more than just the one USB-6501. I also recommend installing the newest driver version, NI-DAQmx 8.7.1.  Please let me know how this goes.

Thanks,

Updating to the newest drivers seems to have resolved my problem, as the DAQ now passes self test and appears to work in my labview application.  Thank you for your help, Nathan!
