Timing accuracy

What doestiming accuracy mean?

In thedescription it is display like that: timing accuracy...................................................... 50 ppm of Sampelrate

So 50 ppmmean 50 parts per million. That is understandable but 50 ppm of a Sampelrate?

If I multiply50 ppm with a rate I get a rate again and not a figure for the timing accuracy.

Accuracy is typically defined as a percentage of a physical unit. E. g. if you have a device with the accuracy of 1% of it's reading and you measure 100 V, the accuracy (or maximum error) will be +/- 1 V.

The specification of the timing accuracy is analogue to this example. So if your sampling rate is 100,000 Hz, 50 ppm mean an accuracy of 100,000 Hz +/- 5 Hz.

I hope that helps,
