The best place to adjust the gain for DAQ?

Where is the best place to adjust the gain for a DAQ channel?
Max, Set Gain VI? or else?
Thanks.

Changing the range should automatically adjust the gain to apply the entire resolution to the new range. For example, if the range is +/-5V, then the gain is set to 1. If the range is +/-50mV, the gain will be set to 100. On the other hand, if you change the gain, the range will change.
The best way is to change the range to the range of you signal.

This question was asked on the NI CLAD practice exam; and I need answer too.
Q. Where is the best place to adjust the gain for a DAQ channel?
A. the Set Gain VI, located in the DAQmx palette
B.
Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX)
C.
the Input Specifications when setting up the DAQ Assistant
D.
the Gain input terminal of the DAQ Assistant

which option is true?
Thanks!

First I would like to mention that it is probably not very welcome to post questions from the CLAD...

  1. Try to find Set Gain.vi and the Gain input of the DAQ Assistant. Could you find them ? AFAIK there is no way to set the gain directly because it is set according to the range of the signal. See here and here for more details. So you can eliminate A and D.
  2. You may not use the DAQ Assistant and therefore this can not be the best place.
So, in my opinion, B is the correct answer. It is good practice to set and test the configuration in MAX before writing some code !

Sorry JB, about violating (not knowingly) the forum rules. I replied to this post because I could not find an answer to this question in the Basics I or II. I find DAQ related questions very difficult. Can you point me to a place where I can search for such (CLAD level) questions?
Your help is soooo much appreciated.
Have a nice day!

I'm not an NI employer and I don't know if there is a rule about this. But at least every candidate must sign a non-disclosure agreement. In my opinion it is not prohibited to discuss about questions from the online sample exam. So please don't consider my previous post like a reproach !
