Retrieve gain via function DAQmxGetAIGain

I want to retrieve the analog in channel gain value but when I call the function DAQmxGetAIGain a I get an error of "property not supported".

How is it possible to retrieve the current gain setting.

The DAQmxGetAIGain can only be used to retrive the gain settings for SCXI channels. It is not possible to directly get the current gain for the daq board. But it is possible to read the Range of the daq board.
