PXI-DAQ module does not pass test in MAX

I have just upgraded a PXI/SCXI system by replacing the controller module with a new one (8176). I did not change any of the other hardware. The DAQ is controlled by a PXI-6040E, which is in the last slot of the PXI chassis to control a SCXI-1100 with a SCXI 1320 terminal block in the SCXI portion of the chassis.

After installing the new controller, and installing LabView, I added the PXI chassis and the 6040E into MAX. The testing states that the 6040E does not pass the test, and that the chassis configuration cannot be confirmed. The 6040E is listed in the hardware/device manager for Win2000 and is listed as working properly.

I am looking for a troublshooting strategy, and I haven't found quite what I needed on the NI
web site. I have updated the pxi ini file, I've got the latest version of NI-DAQ. I have a feeling it must be something simple, such as a driver, or Win2000 related, because the system worked properly before I switched controllers. Thanks for your help.

Sue;

I agree with you. I think it probably is something simple too.

The best way to go about that is to remove all PXI/SCXI modules from your chassis and uninstall NI-DAQ from Add/Remove Programs.

Then, reboot the controller and reinstall NI-DAQ. Shutdown the controller and put the DAQ devices and SCXI modules back in the chassis.

Power the controller back up, and go to MAX. Select Device and Interfaces and press F5 to refresh your configuration. You won't need to include any DAQ device manually, all DAQ boards you have should show under devices and interfaces.

Hope this helps.

Do I need to uninstall all of the other NI programs, such as Measurement Explorer, GPIB software, etc? I ask because I am working on a field site, and I have to instruct someone to make the hardware changes (I can access sotware remotely), so I want to get this right the first time. Thanks for your help.

Hi,

Just wanted to follow up and let you know that I've got the system running. MAX now recongnizes the hardware and the hardware tests successfully. I can run test panels properly as well. I am now having issues in my vi, but I will address that problem in the appropriate forum. Thanks for your help.
