Ni-daqmx configuration on LabVIEW 7.0

How do I configure a ni-daqmx device (model USB 2610) to work with LabVIEW 7.0

which has programs that were already running with an older ni-daq device? I get to the point

where I am starting the VI for the data acquisition, and I get a message that the device I have connected

either is not compatible or needs to be configured. I'm positive it is compatible, but I don't know how to configure it

(i'm just a summer intern at the company)

Is your Device USB 6210????

If Yes, this device is supported only by DAQmx 8.3 and above versions of Device Drivers

But this Device driver DAQmx 8.3 is only for LabVIEW 7.1 and above.

So your USB 6210 will not work with LabVIEW7.0

The best suggestion would be to upgrade your version of LabVIEW to one that is supported by NI-DAQmx 8.3 or above

Any program written in version 7 can be opened in version 8. Since you have been unable to get anything to work in v7, I'm not sure what you would want to transfer. The VIs you write should be in a separate folder from LabVIEW and the only settings to be done are in MAX. You might want to make a backup of any VIs you created in 7 because once you open and save them with version 8, you can't go back. You really need to provide more details of what functions you are using and what exactly do you mean by 'unsuccessful'. Error codes that are generated are an essential piece of information.

First, verify that DAQmx is installed on the pc with version 8 and that the device is recognized. There are test panels that can be run. Then you can look at the DAQmx shipping examples or try the DAQ Assistant.

I'm sorry I haven't been completely clear. The files that I want transfered DO work in LabVIEW 7.0. we just have them on a different computer. We want another computer up and running with labview also so testing will be easier in the lab without having to move around a single computer. The problem was that the USB6210 DAQmx is incompatible with 7.0, but I know for sure that it is compatible with 8.0.  I was able to transfer and open the VI in 8.0. But the error I get is the following as soon as I hit the button to start taking data readings:

Error 10401 occured at AI Group Config

NI-DAQ LV: The specified device is not a National Instruments product , the driver does not support it or the device has not been configured with MAX.

You cannot use AI Group Config with the USB 6210. The USB 6210 only works with the newer DAQmx driver. The function you are using is from the obsolete traditional DAQ driver.

It sounds like you may be facing a typical situation of transitioning code written with the Traditional NI-DAQ API to the NI-DAQmx API.  To get you started, there are a number of resources in LabVIEW and on our website.  Please refer to the following link for general information on getting up-and-running:
Getting Started with NI-DAQmx: Main Page

The NI-DAQmx driver comes with quite a few shipping examples that are installed when you install support for your version of LabVIEW.  These are accessible in the NI Example Finder (in LabVIEW go to Help>>Find Examples) in the directory Hardware Input and Output>>DAQmx.
