NI USB-6211 cannot be found by FWUpdate in Mac OS X 10.6.8

I am testing a newly bought NI USB-6211 under Mac OS X 10.6.8. I've installed the DAQmx base 3.5. The device is recognized by Isdaq, but it does show up in either FWUpdate or mxbaseconfig. I wonder if this is normal or the product I got is faulty.

Thanks in advance for all helps.

Hi,

According to the readme file of DAQmx Base 3.5, the USB-6211 should be supported. However, does your computer runs on an Intel processor? Notice that the DAQmx Base drivers support Mac OS X 10.6 on Intel. Now, since the device shows up in lsdaq, the 6211 might already have the DAQmx Base firmware, and even if you haven’t received an incompatible firmware prompt, you might want to try this KB to update the firmware version.

Hi REDS,

Thanks for your reply. I'm using it on a Macbook Pro with Intel Core 2 Duo CPU. In fact, the device seems to work well in my Cocoa Dev program. I was worried that the device might not be working. It is not a issue now.

Hi binnlieu,

I'm glad it is working now. Can you share with us what changed so that we can all learn from your experience? Is it recognized in Cocoa Dev, but still won't show up in FWUpdate or mxbaseconfig?

Did you try to update the firmware or taken any step since your first question?

I didn't make any change. It just so happened that FWUpdate and mxbaseconfig doesn't work with this device on my Mac. In fact, this is not an issue for me. I was afraid that the adapter itself might be a DOA since I would expect it to work with its own software.
