MAX cannot be loaded properly - crashes

The Measurement & Automation Explorer cannot be loaded sometimes. Even if it is, there is a freeze/crash when I click on "Device and Interfaces", or anything else on the left-hand panel. The status of MAX would be "not responding" when I access Task Manager, and the CPU usage would go down to 1% or even 0%. I tried to reinstalled MAX(veresion 2.0), but it somehow always turns into version 2.2 the next day. I've got DAQ driver version 6.9, CAN driver 2.0, and so forth. Is MAX simply not supporting such recent driver versions?

I think everything was working just a week ago, and the only change I've made to the computer is the addition of the DAQ example VI's in LabVIEW.

amyz,

I'm not sure why MAX seems to be magically converting to 2.2 from 2.0 over night. MAX definitely supports your other driver versions.

My best guess, since this is by no means standard behaviour, is that the software has become corrupt due to the multiple uninstalls/reinstalls. MAX is closely linked with the NI-DAQ driver, which is accessed when you open the Devices and Interfaces folder, and perhaps this link has been corrupted.

My recommendation is that you uninstall both MAX and the NI-DAQ driver. You may even consider uninstalling all of the drivers and reinstalling. You will also want to ensure that the MAX and NI-DAQ directories have been deleted from the \Program Files\National Instruments\ directory. If the MAX and NI-DAQ directories
are still present after an uninstall, this may tell you that the previous uninstalls have been unsuccessful.

Regards,
Justin Britten
