MAX Database Connection Error

I'm having trouble with the new release, MAX 4.2 with DAQmx 8.5. I'm running on a Dell Dimension 4700 desktop with Windoze XP. I had an M series board controlling my SCXI chassis with no problems under LV 8.0. Recently, I switched to an older 6052E board and "upgraded" to the newer version of LabVIEW(8.2.1)/MAX/NIDAQ. When I attempt to show my Devices under MAX, I get the error "MAX Database Connection Error." (I also verified the 6052E works correctly on another machine that has not yet been upgraded to 4.2/8.5)

I checked under support, and found the link below. I checked item #1, and left exceptions for all NI SW in my firewall. Still doesn't work. When I got to #2, I was unable to correct the problem. I can get all of the services to start except for "NI Configuration Manager." When I attempt to start it, Windoze tells me, "Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly."

I completely un-installed all NI SW on the computer. I then installed LV8.2.1, MAX 4.2 and DAQmx 8.5. The problem persists.

This seems to be a show-stopper. Any ideas?

LabVU_Dog,

If you see this KB for the error 1067 that you are getting, it is related to the MAX Database error, or the firewall settings.  Could you try renaming the data folder of MAX, and restarting (step 4 of this KB , that you mentioned in your post) to see if that solves the Error 1067 problem as well.

Regards,

Thanks Raajit,

I had to un-install all NI SW to get it to work. I can now control my SCXI chassis with my6052E board.

As part of the device drivers, I installed GPIB/serial/enet. Windoze is unable to find a driver for my NI PCI 8 channel serial card. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Derek

Hi Derek,

What do you mean by "I installed GPIB/serial/enet"?  Does this mean you installed the NI-488.2 and NI-Serial drivers?  What model is your 8 channel NI PCI serial board and what version of NI-Serial do you have installed?  You can find the driver information in Measurment & Automation Explorer (MAX) under the "Software" folder in the configuration tree.
