Is there a way to access the four counter/timers in a PCIe-6320 that’s connected to a SXCI-1001 through a SHC68-68-EPM cable and the SCXI-1349 adaptor? Could a SCXI-1163R used for the timer output? I need to generate frequencies (<10 KHz).

Hello Norski,
For doing that with the 1163R you would need a counter to digital line converter that does not exist. You may face multiplexing issues too. One option MAY be to run it "parallel mode", if you are ONLY using the 1163 and no other modules. You may check this links:

Hello norski,
Additionally you can use this device to access the counters of your DAQ card directly:

Just to be clear, you CAN'T access the counters with the 1163R. You need to use the 1180 to access the counters.

If I used the PCIe-6320 with a SH68-68-EP cable to the SCXI-1349 adaptor and then a SCXI-1180 feedthrough panel, could I access the four timer/counters on the 6320 from the 1180?

norski,
The scxi 1180 is made to connect to the 1349 adapter and should allow you to do this.

The SH68-68-EP is the wrong cable, you would need a VHDCI connector to plug into your PCIe-6320. I would suggest the SHC68-68-EPM.
Other than that, the 1180 should indeed connect to the 1349 adapter.

Thanks for the catch John,
I saw EPM listed in the title and read it that way in his post!
You would indeed want the EPM cable, not the EP

So if I use a SHC68-68-EPM cable from PCIe-6320, connecting to a SCXI-1349 in a SCXI-1001, and then connect the SCXI-1180 with a SCXI-1300 to the 1349, I should be able to use the four counter/timers on the 6320? Where do I find the information about which terminals on the SCXI-1300 I need to use? The 1180 manual don't tell me much.
Thanks,

norski,
The 6320 clk information can be found in the "pin out" in measurement and automation. The cable will route these pins directly to the 1349 adapter and then to the 1180. I don't know if it will be 1:1 pin map through the entire chain, but you should be able to map the paths through the devices to see which pins you need to connect to on the 1180, starting with the 6320.
