Is it possible to design a virtual scope with sampling rate at 200MS/s

Hi, all.
As the title,  I want to desing a virtual scope with the sampling rate at leasting 200MS/s. But after searching, I found a problem that there is not many DAQ(PCI or PXI or USB) cards which sampling rate more than 100MS/s, and the price of this kind cards is very high. So I want to ask a question, is it an appropriate way to design a virtual scope with a DAQ card, in other words, the main function of most DAQ cards is not for designing virtual scope. If I want to desing one, I need to find another way.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Gladbach
Maybe you'll have to find another way....

DAQ boards are meant to be used for sampling generic signals, opposite to periodic signals.  A scope, usually, rely on the fact that signal to be acquired is periodic, and this allows some way to perform down-sampling (provided you have a frequencymeter, to determinate signal frequency first! In digital scope you have it).

NI provides a different family of products for building scopes: they're the High-speed digitizers, http://www.ni.com/digitizers/ .  They're quite expensive, but it's almost what you need.  And with a digitizer board, you also get NI-SCOPE.

   Hope it helps....
