How do I setup tags for the usb-9211?

Sorry about the novice question...

I've got the NI USB-9211 Temp acquisition unit and I want to setup up tags for the channels.  I'm relatively new to LabVIEW.  I've tried looking through the forums/help files/manuals and from what I read, I get the impression that I have to make a server to manage the tags.  Is this correct?  If so, uhhh...how?  I'm running Labview 7.1.

You should not need to create Global Channels or Tasks to use your 9211A. In LabVIEW, you should be able to specify the physical channels and create the software channels programmatically. You may want to search the LabVIEW example finder (Help->Find Examples)  for the Cont Acq Thermocouple Samples-SW Timed.vi example VI. It can be found under Hardware Input and Output->DAQmx->Analog Measurements->Temperature.

If you do wish to create Global Channels or Tasks, this can be done in Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX). Simply right-click on "Data Neighborhood," select "Create New..." and follow the prompts.
