General Project overview

Hi. This is the general overview of my project using a usb6008, and im am not sure how to / or if its even possible to?

An xy table being driven using 2 stepper motors. another motor being used to revolve the tablle. Two limit switches and two home position switches.

and to trigger an IR light on and off through a fibre optic cable.

so 3 stepper motors, 3 motor drivers, 4 switches, one IR source.

I need to be able to count the pulses given to each motos, in order to control the position of them.

I have a signal generator that creates the oulse using a 555chip.

On the motor drivers there are common, pulse, direction, and enable. 

i was thinking to leave the digital side fo the USB-6008 for the motor's and the IR I/O   and attempt to use the analog side for the switches.

Any help orassistance greatly appreciated

You are going to be WAY over the limit of how much power you can source from the DO.  you will need some high gain drivers to amplify the DO enough to drive your motors.

I concur with Jeff, what you are trying to achieve cannot be done with a single USB-6008. I'm afraid you will need to use more advanced hardware to meet the requirements. I would recommend you call into your local NI office and talk to a Sales Representative, who will help you find the right hardware to meet your specifications.
