Greetings gdimassa,
First I would recommend looking for a BIOS update as explained in KnowledgeBase 2V6CHLRY: E-Series DAQCard Not Responding To First IRQ Level on a Cardbus Enabled PCMC.... If that does resolve the issue, then I would recommend contacting one of our Applications Engineers at http://www.ni.com/support for a solution. This sounds like a known issue for which we may have a patch for you to test as a short-term solution. A long-term solution is currently in the works.

Sincerely,

Hello again gdimassa,
I believe that the Dell Inspiron 5100 series is IO-APIC based (because the HyperThreading-capable Inspiron 5150 used the same mainboard), thus the following KnowledgeBase would apply:
KB 373FLOA6 "PC Card (PCMCIA) Devices Can Exhibit Interrupt Failures on Windows 2000 and XP"

Thus if you upgrade to NI-DAQ 7.2 or higher, we believe that this issue is resolved. Please visit the NI Software Downloads page and give this a try.

Sincerely,
Jeremiah
