My first suggestion would be to upgrade to NI DAQ Mx 8.0 and completely uninstall MX Base.

the mx base drivers are junk IMHO. That curred my headaches.

Next have you created the task before trying to do an operation with it? Use the vi's DAQMx Create Virtual Channels.vi or DAQmx Create Task.vi. Feed the task out to the start task vi and the read or write vi. Then stop the task when the operation is complete. You should also destroy the task at the end of your sub vi.
