There are different ways to configure a counter. If you want to do event counting (count the rising or falling edges of your signal) put your signal into the counter source. For a quadrature encoder insert Phase A into the source of the counter and Phase B into the Up/Down line or DIO 6. If you want to calculate the period, pulse width, or position, put your signal into the gate of the counter and use a known timebase off of the board for the source. Most devices that you want to measure with a counter come with instructions of how to read the signal. Please let me know if you have any questions. Have a great day!
