Can I connect USB-6008 to Er-16

Hi

I have a sytem based on a PCI-6025E card, ER-16 relay card and CB-50 screw terminals all connected with R1005050 cable.

Is it posible to connect to the ER-16 and CB-50 using USB-6008 Daq?

Hi Aviram,

Thanks for posting! Looking through the manual of the  ER-16, it looks like the recommended connection method is to go through a SC-2050 block. However, if you don't have one, I don't see a problem with connecting your 6008 to the CB-50 and then connecting the CB-50 to the ER-16, provided you know where each pin leads to. Have you already tried setting this up?

Thanks

Do you mean directly (pin to pin) connect the USB-6008 Digital outputs (12 only) to the Er-16 connector?

I understand that I can only control 12 relays of the 16 that are on the ER-16 board.

Do I need to made a custom cable, one side with a coonector that fits the DIO-24 or DIO-32 connectors on the ER-16 and th eother side with wires to connect the USB-6008 digital lines or there is a standard one?.

Hi Aviram,

You could connect the 6008 directly to the ER-16 but it's not what's recommended in the ER-16 manual. What is recommended is to connect to the port on the back of the ER-16. Since you have an existing setup using a CB-50 I would just connect your 6008 to the CB-50.

Hi

I think I do not understand what are you suggesting.

How do I connect between the CB-50 and the ER-16 and between the CB-50 (50pins) and the USB-6008 (32 pins).

Do I need to connect the 32 pins of the USB-6008 to the coresponding 32 pins in the SB-50 and then to use a 50 pins cale to connect the ER-16 to the SB-50 connector?

Can you send me a block scheme to describe the connections?

Thanks,

Aviram

Hi Aviram,

You're right, connect the pins of interest from the 6008 to the CB-50 and then the CB-50 should cable to the ER-16. However, you're going to need an external power supply because the ER-8/16 needs 500mA/1A at 5 V but the 6008 can only supply 200mA at 5V.
