Beginners Question - Scaling an Accelerometer

I'm trying to scale accelerometer input properly in DASYlab.

If my accelerometer has a sensitivity of 0.1 V/g and use the Scaling module, my y/t chart outputs for even small inputs are questionably high.  This leads me to question my setup.

I'm using two scaling modules, one for volt to G and a second for g to m/s^2.
In the V to g module, I'm using two defining points of x1, y1 = 0, 0.1  and x2, y2 = 0, 1.0

The second scaling module is for unit conversion of acceleration from g to m/s^2.

Yet even a very little tap with the soft part of the little finger gives over a volt of output - over 10 g's.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,

Bob

Hello Bob,

Thank you for posting to the National Instruments discussion forums.  If you would like help configuring a scale for your accelerometers in DASYLab, please contact DASYLab support.  You can either post a message on one of their discussion forums (found here), or contact their support (found here).

If you believe the problem is with your hardware setup, I can help you with that.  If you would like to test your hardware, please create a DAQmx task in Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX).  To do this right click on Data Neighborhood and select Create new.  In the window that appears select NI-DAQmx Task.  Follow the on screen prompts to complete the setup.  You should be able to specify G or m/s^2.  You can then save and test your task.  Hopefully this test will show everything working correctly.  If this is the case, DASYLab support should be able to help you out.
