Acquiring Data bytes using AI

Hi,

I am generating a series of data bytes at the AO at specified baud rate using a PXI system. I would like to read the same data bytes (sent from AO) and reconvert them back to the original data.
My questions are:
1. Is this possible using the PXI system ?
2. Should i use the AI for acquiring the data bytes (pattern).  
3. How do i synchronize the acqusition operation with the time when data byte is sent ?.

Any suggessions will be helpful.

Transmitting an analog signal between two PXI cards is possible, but you will have to use an external connection between the AO of your first device to the AI of the second. 

To synchronize your cards, you can share the AO sample clock to a RSTI line and then specify that line as your AI sample clock.  This will work as long as you take into account the Nyquist Theorem. 

I'm not certain this will answer your questions.  If it doesn't could you specify what hardware you are using and what type of signal you are generating.
