Is there any basic example that shows me how I can interpret a G-code to control stepper motors?

Currently I´m working on a project that involves taking a G-code and controlling 2 stepper motors. I was wondering if there is any example that helps me to start working on this.

Thank you in advance

Juan

Hello Juan

Thank you very much for getting in touch with us!  So that I may better assist you with this issue, can you please describe your hardware setup including all product model numbers and manufacturers?

If you are using NI-Motion, the best place to look for examples is in our NI Example Finder.  You can access this by either click on "Find Examples..." from the LabVIEW splash screen or by clicking the Help drop-down menu in a VI or project and clicking "Find Examples..." under the third division.  Then, while in the "Browse" tab, please click on the following folder tree:  Toolkits and Modules >> NI-SoftMotion.  From here there are many applications you can explore to suit your needs.

In the case that your stepper motors are RS-232 controlled, you can use our NI-VISA VIs.  There are also examples for serial communication.  They can be found under Hardware Input and Output >> Serial >> Basic Serial Write and Read.vi.  Our NI-VISA drivers can be downloaded for free from the following location:

NI-VISA 5.0.3 - Pocket PC 2003, Real-Time OS, Windows 7 64 bit/7 x86/Mobile 5/XP Embedded/Server 2008 R2 (64-bit)/Vista x64/Vista x86/XP/Server 2003 R2 (32-bit)

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance with this issue.  Thank you very much!

Sincerely,
