Any plans for a USB-7342?

Solved!
Go to solution

We have a handful of systems that use the PCI-7342 in windows XP on our production floor, this is great, and works, so we don't want to change that.  Ever.

My problem, as a developer, is that I'd like to move from my multiple PC setup (where I have one with LV 8.5.1 and one with 2010) to one machine with a few different VPCs.  The new windows 7 VPC allows USB devices to get through, but not PCI/PCIe devices.  I would love to be able to get a USB-based motion controller to be able to move my development over.  Are there any plans for such a thing?  If not, is it because there's no demand, or because there are fundamental problems with moving the motion controllers over?

Thank you for your question.  I am not aware of any plans to make a motion controller with a USB interface.  At one time we did have a controller that communicated through a firewire port on the PC, but it has since been discontinued and only has driver support through NI Motion 7.0.  I will speak with our product development department just to be sure there is nothing in the works, but I do not expect this to be a product we are planning to offer any time soon.  I will let you know if I find out anything different.
