Question of save image

My IMAQ framegrabber is PCI-1422.And I have two questions.
1.Q1:Should I transfer image type to cwimaqImageTypeU8 when I use CWIMAQVision.WriteJPEGFileas function to save image?
2.Q2:When I threshold my image and save it, I found the image are all black, why?
