WaveformGraph for NI-PCI 5112 card

Solved!

<Old Post>
we can not use NI-PCI 5112 (high speed digitizer) on NI DAQ Windows Application.
we select all items in project Task Wizard/acquire signal list but
My device is not displayed!(The message "Not Supported" is displayed)
what is my problem?
which one acquire signal must be selected to use for my device?

<Mr Jason Answer>

Does the NI-PCI 5112 show up in Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX)? Can you communicate with the card via test panels? You can launch MAX from Start » Programs » National Instruments » Measurement & Automation. I have included a link below that details how to use the Test Panels.

Using Test Panels in MAX: http://www.ni.com/white-paper/4638/en

</answer>

And Now ...

Yes Mr. Jason
I can see the hardware in MAX and i can communicate with the card via test panels.(Follwing Pic1.jpg)
I've read other threads about it on the Forum.
So,I installed DotNETClassLibrary 1.1.1 For NI-SCOPE and  I could communicate with NI-PCI 5112 card with the examples of .NET 3.5.
But i could not use waveformgraph for my card.
I think the reason is, DotNETClassLibrary 1.1.1 uses .NET 3.5 but my waveformgraph tool is in NET 4.

What can I do?

Hello SAM,

Are you able to read in any data from the card? It may be beneficial to try example programs that were installed along with the DAQmx driver. If you navigate in Visual Studio to the menu option for Measurement Studio, and select “Measurement Studio Examples” from the drop down, then navigate through the following path: DotNET\Examples\DAQmxWithUI\DigitalWaveformGraph. You can then select the language you would like (C# or VB.NET)

This example may help you set up your own code. If you plan on editing the example, I would suggest first making a copy of the folder on your hard drive. I hope this helps!

Hello Mr. Davis

when i run the example, the program hangs up.

So We decided to buy a new hardware From NI.

In fact, we want to use a pressure sensor to measure.

What are your suggestions for new hardware?

The profile of my pressure sensor is Here

Please suggest a device that we can use it by NI-DAQ windows application on Measurement stdio 2010.

Best Regards

Sam

Hello Sam,

I will need to gather more information before I can suggest an appropriate card.

I can see that your sensor uses an I/O link, how do you plan on interfacing with it?

If you're looking to sample the analog channel on the sensor, what sampling rate are you planning on using? And how much resolution do you require?

You can always call National Instruments at (866) 337-8760 if you want to discuss your options over the phone with a Technical Sales Representative.

Also,

Does the example you tried running cause an error? If so, can you post the error code and message here?

And what's the reason why you want to buy new hardware?

Thanks

Hi Tarek

This sensor device is used to measure the pressure on Hydrotest (Test water Pipe) and

I want to show the pressure by a waveformgraph in measurement studio 2010.

I need Measuring range between 0...5800 psi.

Hi SAM.2012,

In order to be able to measure a range between 0 and 5800 psi, you will use a pressure sensor to change the pressure into voltage. We can then read the voltage with a Data Acquisition card. It looks as though you have the pressure sensor already, so we can discuss what DAQ card you would like to use.

You have a PCI 5112 already, is there a reason you did not want to use this device? If you do not want to use it, could you give me the specifications of a card you would like? The speed, number of analog input channels, form factor (USB, PCI, PXI, etc.), and voltage range would all be helpful in trying to determine a card that works for you.

Hi Jason

No!!! My pressure sensor Output is based on mA and between 4 to 20 mA.we will use a pressure sensor to change the pressure into Amp.

The device (PCI 5112) was used for testing.Sorry! i forget accept the answer about it.But Finally, We decided to buy the new hardware.

the specifications:

number of analog input channels : 2 or more

form factor: PCI

measure range: between 0 and 5800 psi

for Help about the new hardware,should i open another Topic?

Best Regards

SAM
