Licenses gone after upgrading to Measurement Studio 8.1.2 from 8.1.1

I upgraded from 8.1.2 to 8.1.2 then also did the driver install because the installer told me to. At some point during the install I got exactly the message in my attachment. I don't remember if it was during the MS 8.1.2 install or the driver install.

I had a similar experience when I upgraded from 8.1 to 8.1.2. Anyway, I simply said NO to the question. I then saw VS 2005 IDE displayed and did nothing to that IDE for fear of what could happen. After quite a while the system went thru the restart sequence. There were no messages except the "New Hardware Found" one. I did an auto install of the PXI drivers for my HW without incident.

To fix this I did a repair of the 8.1.2 installation and after 20 minutes did the restart and then VS worked without complaining. It did ask me to insert driver disk #2 but I didn't do that.

I agree it was "not fun". Hope it can be fixed in future releases.

Hi Steve,

If you receive errors during install, one troubleshooting tip that helps us out is to post a log of the installation.  This will tell us exactly what is failing in the installer.

If you are seeing issues when launching the device driver CDs after installing Measurement Studio (i.e. there is an option in the Measurement Studio installer tree to install Device Drivers), then I always suggest installing them seperately (i.e. install Measurement Studio, reboot if necessary and then install the driver CD).  This way you will know which set of installers is causing the problem.

You shouldn't have to do this at all, but if you do find your self in this scenario, those are always some basic troubleshooting steps.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi Steve,

I was just curious what your prior Measurement Studio history was on this machine. Did you have other versions besides 8.1.1 on this machine ever? For example, did you jump from 8.0.1 to 8.1 to 8.1.1 to 8.1.2?

Thanks

MS.NET was purchased Aug 3, 2006. As near as I can tell, the versions on this machine have been 8.1, 8.1.1, 8.1.2

I am having this problem as well, and the workaround has failed repeatedly.  First, the Visual Studio Integration failed and I couldn't see Measurement Studio (or licenses) from Visual Studio.  Tried removing the Integration, caused a BSOD.  Reinstalled, supposedly successfully, got Integration but no license.  Tried uninstalling examples, then reinstalling, still no license.  I am currently trying to uninstall 8.1.2 and roll back to 8.1.1.  I have low expectations of success.

I've been using Measurement Studio since it was Component Works (7 or 8 years?) and installing NI software has always been fraught with peril.  Remember when installing a new MAX version would overwrite your COM UI components for Component Works, forcing NI to come out with that lame License Fixer tool?

I'm going to suggest that the other developers in my Lab do not install this version until this issue is addressed.
