Calculate frequency response from biquad coefficients

I am wondering if there is a way in Measurement Studio to plot the frequency response of a biquad based digital filter.  There are several bands I will need to combine together in order to create the filter.  Is there tools that will help me calculate the amplitude/phase at a certain frequency or better yet a tool that does the entire calculation for me?

Thanks!

Hey UmmGooD,

This page is a really nice complete one-stop shop reference of all the built-in functions in our Analysis Libraries within Measurement Studio (differentiated between Professional and Enterprise).  If it's not listed there, then we cannot do it within the current version of Measurement Studio out-of-the-box.  I did a very brief preliminary glance and unless I missed it, I'm not sure that anything out-of-the-box will do this calculation for you.

I am wondering if it is the Amplitude and Phase Spectrum function.  I don't currently own the Enterprise Edition of the software so I cannot get any info about that specific method.  I also don't want to try the evaluation edition because I am supporting another project that cannot have my system down for an uninstall and reinstall of that software.

Is there any way to get information on exactly how to use and what the function above does without having to install the help for that function to determine if I should buy the Enterprise edition or not?

Hey UmmGooD,

The best I can do is to copy/paste what you'd see in the help documentation.  Perhaps you can use this to see if it's worth your time to set up a test machine / virtual machine and download the Evaluation version of Measurement Studio (which, by the way, is Enterprise).

According to the description of the method, I think it might be what you're looking for:

Amplitude Phase Spectrum Method

Purpose:

Calculates the single-sided, scaled amplitude spectrum magnitude and amplitude spectrum phase of a real, time-domain signal.
The Amplitude spectrum and Phase spectrum are both outputs of this method, which seems to be what you're looking for.
