video storage

Hello

i have a very simple question.I am planning to record Video from a webcam. and save it as video file either compressed or not compressed on my hard disk.
so for long recording hours which storage capacity i have to consider? and on which parameters  is it dependent. If take half of the PAL, 24 bit and 15 fps then when could be the storage requirement on hard disk and how can i calculate it? is there any straight forward formula for that?

regards
Hood

Hello Hood!

I do not have any information about webcams, but normally the storage is dependent from number of pixels, depth (z.B. 24 bit), Monocrome (1 Channel) or Color (4 Channels) and frame rate.
If you have a uncompressed signal I think you can calculate it by Pixels x Pixels x Depth x Channels x FPS.
Alternativ you can log date 1 minute and can calculate this for some hours.
